The shaped ADSL service is shaped according to internet protocols and therefore provides the main priority to HTTP traffic, which is the protocol assigned to most internet traffic. This service is therefore mainly designed for surfing the web and retrieving or sending email.
The following protocols are prioritised on the network: HTTP, HTTPS, FTP. Mail (POP3 and IMAP), SSH and TELNET. This means that protocols not mentioned above will receive a lower priority on the internet network like VoIP.
This unshaped ADSL service will offer you unshaped international bandwidth and a higher data transfer rate than the shaped service. The unshaped service will not shape the protocols that are not cached by Telkom / SAIX. All protocols will therefore share the available bandwidth equally.
